I went through a phase during middle and high school where I decided I didn’t like chicken. It wasn’t until college that I realized chicken is fine, what I really don’t care for is fried chicken. So what’s a mommy to do for National Fried Chicken Day when she doesn’t like fried chicken? Put a different spin on it!
I do love sesame chicken so why not combine the two? And here you have it: Sesame Fried Chicken! (which all the kids asked for 2nds of!)
Ingredients:
- 12 chicken wings
- 2 cups buttermilk/soured milk
- 1 cup flour
- salt and pepper to taste
- 3/4 cup honey
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Soak chicken wings in buttermilk for 15 minutes or longer (up to overnight).
- Mix flour, salt and pepper and dredge chicken wings to cover
- Fry wings in hot oil just until browned, turning over once
- Meanwhile, combine honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar and sesame oil
- Once browned, transfer wings to oiled baking dish and add honey mixture
- Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes, turning once halfway to coat with honey mixture
