Today begins my career as a “Dance Mom.” Honeybun has her ballet performance pictures this morning and so begins our journey into her dance world. Even though I’ve done the whole performance thing tons of times, it’s strange doing it as a mom.
Today marks the first time Honeybun will get a proper bun in her hair. Today marks the first time she’ll get to wear full make-up (I’m completely anti-makeup usually, even for dress up and play). Today marks the day she will don her first costume and feel like a ballerina princess (actually more like a gingerbread cookie…). And after all the practicing she’s been doing in class each week since August, today marks the day where she can feel the excitement of her hard work and achievements.
It’s hard to believe my tiny baby that was nestled in my tummy a few years ago is already big enough to be doing these sort of things. It truly is amazing how quickly children grow and how fast time goes by (even if the day to day sometimes seems excruciatingly long).
