It’s remarkable to think of all the places I’ve breastfed my children. I’m not really the type to hide out at home when my kids are little nor do I worry about where I am when they need to feed. If the boob is available when baby is hungry, they get to eat and when baby feeds 8-12 times a day, the number of places where feedings occur adds up.
I’ve breastfed on planes, trains, automobiles, buses and boats (though never in a moving car, I would never ever risk taking my child out of their car seat to feed while the car is moving).
I’ve breastfed in 6 different states, 25 different countries and too many cities to count.
I’ve breastfed while shopping, cooking, cleaning and eating.
I’ve breastfed at fine dining establishments, family restaurants, fast food joints, coffee shops, sidewalk cafes and neighborhood pubs.
I’ve breastfed at the mall, the grocery store, the beach, the movies and sporting events.
I’ve breastfed in museums, castles, palaces, forts, zoos, parks, gardens, ancient ruins, amusement parks, breweries, and distilleries.
I’ve breastfed in churches and at the Vatican.
I’ve even breastfed while running a meeting with 60+ pairs of eyes on me.
And this week I added a new one: I’ve now breastfed while riding an amusement park ride (Buzz Lightyear at Magic Kingdom actually and I still got 18,300 points!)
You are amazing! I’m getting more brave as he gets bigger. I love the luvs commercial of the new mom vs 2nd child mom. My sis in law is still a bit more brave than I but in due time I suppose;)
This is indeed my 3rd baby. With my first it was months before I nursed her in public, I used to sit in my car for the entire 30-40 minutes and even once I started she was always in my sling, completely covered. With my 2nd I didn’t have a car so didn’t have the option to hide and she HATED being covered. With #3 it’s just so much easier to just get it done. I try to cover but don’t go out of my way to do it especially because he gets so hot in the sling in the Florida Summer heat. Just remember you have the right to feed your baby anywhere you’re allowed to be. I don’t care if it bothers other people, I’m going to feed my baby when he’s hungry! I saw a quote once that I love, something along the lines of “if my breastfeeding makes you uncomfortable, why don’t you put a blanket over YOUR head.”
Your awesome!
I was known to breastfeed my two children at McNichols arena during Nuggets and the national hockey team of that time. I’m talking the early 1980’s. I might have moved to a semiunpopulated area but still in public.
Love it! What we do for our children!
It really is crazy the sacrifices we make every second, just for the well-being of our children!
