A bit over a year ago I was complaining about my girls arguing over Barbie shoes in “I am not a referee!” Well, one year older and not much has changed except now they argue over more sophisticated things like chairs.
Yesterday while Honeybun was working on her homework, Sugarplum moved the chair Honeybun had been sitting in. Which prompted Honeybun to use an inappropriate tone with her sister claiming it was “her” chair. Honeybun placed the chair back at the table prompting Sugarplum to do her famous scream and pull the chair away right as Honeybun sat down, causing Honeybun to fall on the floor which just enraged the beast. Honeybun screeched at Sugarplum, sat in the chair and began scooting it to the table while Sugarplum held onto the back, crying and trying to pull it the other way.
At this point the mommy in me who was pinned under a fevery, sleeping baby wanted to take the stance of “you two work it out” but I knew that would result in one of two bad outcomes: an awake, upset baby or a hurt child. So instead, this is what happened:

Goodness! I’m glad no one got “hurt!” I can only imagine what I have to look forward to with my boys…I’m seeing glimpses in them already.
Luckily it’s usually just arguing and it really does wear on you, but the moments when they play nicely or do something loving for each other makes every struggle you’ve ever had worth it!
