This week is a big one (in oh so many ways…) as I’m tackling the playroom. This room drives me CRAZY! And it finally occurred to me why last week. We set the room up as an office plus playroom for a 2 year old and 4 year old. What’s happened over time is that the office has left the room (we now opt to do our computer work in the living room instead) leaving a desk collecting junk and we now have an almost 6 year old and an almost 4 year old whose play habits have changed. They now spend most of their time coloring and writing or playing real-life make-believe (restaurant, shopping, baby…) and the space no longer meets their needs and style (nor the adults!) It is also our swimming stuff central but is not meeting the needs for that either since everything just gets thrown around the room.
So this room will be getting the biggest makeover, probably the only room that will get rearranged. We plan to get rid of the desk that is just taking up space, move the leftover computer stuff out and create a reading corner and writing space hopefully leaving more room for the toys to actually come out and get played with whereas right now they all just get dumped on the floor in front of the bins since the furniture is in the way.
Even though we have our dance show this weekend, we chose to do this room this week since my parents will be here and can help with the rearranging of large and heavy furniture (and/or child wrangling while hubby and I schlep furniture.)
