One of the things I never travel without whether flying or driving, going for a weekend or a few months, is my zip bags of baby toiletries. I always keep it handy (in my carry-on or top of bags in the car) just in case I might need something. Nothing is worse than a sick or hurting kiddo when traveling and while I’m not a big user of medicine for my kids (or for myself for that matter) but there are certain things I always want to have, just in case.
This is what I keep in my baby travel necessities bag:
- Baby Soap/Shampoo
- Diaper cream
- Pain Medicine/Fever Reducer
- Anti-gas drops (when I have a baby in tow)
- Nail Clippers (I can’t tell you how many pairs of nail clippers I’ve bought on vacation because I forgot to clip baby’s nails before leaving!)
- Thermometer
- Sunscreen (not matter where we’re going—Honeybun got her first sunburn on our first visit to Dublin after a year in Florida!)
- Saline and Bub Syringe
- Hand Sanitizer
- Lotion or Cream
A few other tips:
- If you’re flying, remember all medicines should always go in your carry-on bag (more tips for packing carry-on bags with kids!)
- When carrying on, all individual products must be less than 100 ml (3.4 oz) and all liquid items must fit in a single quart size zip bag
- Your zip bag must come out of your carry-on at security so keep it right on top (more tips for surviving security with kids!)
- When driving, keep your zip bag handy just in case you quickly need something (diaper rash on the road is the worst–more tips for car rides with babies)
- Whenever possible, get travel size versions of the products you usually use on your babes to avoid any reactions while away from home
