I have to admit this past week’s undertaking of the playroom was a bit overambitious BUT, it got done nonetheless. It was show week for my students and Honeybun so most of the week and weekend was spent preparing and at the theatre and while coming up on the weekend I doubted if the playroom would get cleaned at all (let alone organized an rearranged!) we pushed through and got it done.
We rearranged everything to create areas for the kids. We now have a writing center, a reading corner and a block area and the dress up cabinet got moved so it hopefully won’t throw up all over the room anymore! We not only moved and rearranged the furniture (getting rid of the unused desk altogether) but I reorganized all the toys.
One of my favorite roles as a preschool teacher was classroom organization. I loved organizing things and creating different learning and interest areas for the kids. In our own playroom we now have our writing center with paper, notebooks and pencils and crayons (out of Doodle’s reach!) plus a table. Nearby I also put the puzzles and other items that might be used at the table.
We have a block area where the train, various blocks, animal figurines, tool set and other building toys live. And we have a reading corner with two comfy chairs and a TON of books where the girls can sit, relax and read.
And maybe most excitingly, we finally got our miscellaneous traveling souvenirs hung up (and all three kids have been playing nicely together in there all morning!)
So here it is, the playroom before and after!
