So the guest room is doneish. I at least got it cleaned up and usable though there is still some organizing and decorating work to be done. I need to clean up my craft and sewing supplies and finish hanging my ballerina pictures but at least Honeybun now has a clean place to rest (and no more stuff to mess with instead of sleeping!) and the room is guest-ready, should the need arise.
So, my 8 week challenge is done. What now? I plan to keep rotating through the house so back to the master bedroom I go. It doesn’t need a full overhaul like it did at the beginning of the challenge but there is laundry to be put away and it never hurts to do a full clean.
So what did I ultimately gain from my 8 week challenge? A lot. For one, my home is more tidy and organized. It gave me the opportunity to go through things and purge unneeded items (though I didn’t purge as much as i thought I would).
But most importantly it showed me what a “home” is really all about. It’s not about how much stuff you have, or how expensive your stuff is or how clean your house is. A home is only as valuable as the people in it. A house filled with people you love, things you love and memories you love are what makes a home happy, nothing else.
