Exactly one year ago (tomorrow!), I introduced my “Traveling Tuesday” posts where I’ve shared all our families traveling adventures, where we’ve been with our kids and what they liked and didn’t like each place. Sadly, last week “wrapped up” the series not because I want to be done but because I covered every place we’ve been.
The amount of family travel we’ve done since returning to Florida from Dublin just over two years ago is pretty disappointing but we definitely have no plans to stop sharing the world with our kids!
We moved to Dublin knowing it would be a temporary stay so our main goal was to travel and see as much as we possibly could. We made a list of all the places we wanted to and started crossing things off within the first 3 months we were there, starting with Paris. We did three 7+ night cruises and traveled many places with our families. All in all, we visited 27 countries on four continents in 2 1/2 years and it was amazing.
But we didn’t get to everything, we still have our list of places we want to go someday. The list of things we want to share with our children and the places we want to see ourselves.
I asked the girls where they would want to go if they could go anywhere in the world and this was their responses:
Honeybun: California, Maine, back to Germany
Sugarplum: Dublin
My list of places I really want to see is a bit more exhaustive, though, including:
- Some places I’ve wanted to see as long as I could remember like Australia and New Zealand; Iceland and Monacco.
- Going to Ephesus has opened my eyes to the ancient world and I’d love to go see the ruins of Peru; Belize and/or Honduras; and Pompeii.
- Some places are not as exotic, but I’d love to visit New York City; Seattle; San Francisco; and Chicago.
- Then there’s the places in Europe that we missed like Portugal; Switzerland; and Croatia.
- And the places we’ve been but I want to see more of like Sweden; Poland; and Russia.
- And of course I’d love to get back to Dublin to see all our friends!
What places are part of your “dying to see it!” list?
What about Washington DC?? You have a friend that you and the family could stay with!!
You’re right, Jen! That is totally on the list of places I want to take the kids though I’ve been there before!
