We’re heading to Disney for a few days but with 4 kids ranging in age from 3 months to 7 years, even just a short trip up the road involves major planning, preparation and most of all, packing! I’ve become pretty good at packing with all the family traveling we’ve done over the years and have developed myself some fool-proof packing lists for each age and stage but what I haven’t gotten good at after all these years is the division of packing responsibility.
Here is my husband’s packing list:
- His clothes (shorts, t-shirts, unders and socks)
- His sandals
- His facewash and contacts/solution
- Toothbrush
- Bathing suit
Here’s my packing list:
- My clothes (bottoms, tops, unders, tanks, pajamas)
- Clothes for kid 1 (bottoms, tops, unders, pajamas)
- Clothes for kid 2 (bottoms, tops, unders, pajamas)
- Clothes for kid 3 (bottoms, tops, pajamas including an extra change of clothes)
- Clothes for kid 4 (bottoms, tops, pajamas, multiple extra changes of clothes)
- Diapers for kid 3
- Diapers for kid 4
- Wipes
- Bathing suits for myself and 4 kids (including swim diapers for kids 3 and 4)
- My shoes
- Two pairs of shoes for each kid (except kid 4 who doesn’t walk yet)
- My shampoo, conditioner and face wash
- Kids’ shampoo
- Baby shampoo
- My toothbrush and toothpaste
- Toothbrushes and kids’ toothpaste for kids 1, 2, and 3
- Hairbrush and plenty of ponies and clips
- Travel bag of emergency medicines and supplies
- Blankets and lovies for kids 1, 2, and 3
- Play yard/travel cot
- Sheet for travel cot
- Books, toys and soft animals for kids 1, 2, and 3 for the car ride
- Toys and teethers for the baby for in the car and when I want to eat
- Bibs for the baby (who is a constant drooling mess)
- My breastpumps, bottles, dish soap and bottle brush for managing excess milk
- Snacks for everyone
Doesn’t quite seem fair, does it?
