It’s really no secret anymore that Facebook caters content. What you see on your personal Facebook news feed is unique to how you interact with pages, groups and posts on Facebook. And while this can be really great because it filters out some of the stuff you aren’t really interested in, it might also prevent you from seeing things you are interested in.
If you aren’t familiar with how it works, basically Facebook uses technical algorithms/formulas to determine what you might like and want to see which is based on a number of factors including what you see and then interact with on your Facebook news feed.
But the problem becomes, when you aren’t shown posts from your favorite groups and pages (like Beyond Mommying) on your Facebook news feed, you can’t interact with them and then you don’t get shown the latest posts that you actually want to see.
So here’s a few ways you can ensure that you see all the latest information on your Facebook news feed from the pages and groups you are most interested in:
Like the pages you want to see more from
The most important thing you can do to increase the chances of seeing things on you Facebook news feed from pages you are most interested in is to “like” the page. Simply click the “like” button under the header image.
Turn on notifications to “all on” for the pages and groups that interest you most
You can also turn on notifications for pages that you want to see every post for which will give you a notice (under the little globe ball at the very top of your Facebook news feed) every time something new is added. Hover over the “like” button under the page’s header image and under notifications select “All On (All Posts, Events).”
Select “See First” under the News feed options
You can also choose to see the latest posts from your favorite pages at the top of your Facebook news feed. Again, under the “like” button, select “See First” under the In Your News Feed heading.
React to every post you see from pages you like
Every time you see a post from your favorite pages or groups, give it a thumbs up or a heart. This lets Facebook know you want to see more of the content from that page or group. Tip: Hover over the “like” thumbs up button to see other option like “love” and “haha.”
Comment on pictures and statuses
Commenting on posts lets Facebook know that you’re engaged with the content you’re seeing so will want to show you more. So, if you see a picture/meme you like, leave a comment or if you see a status that asks a question, answer it.
Click the links in every post, even if not interested in the specific content
Facebook has started awarding “brownie points” to links that get clicked because it deems the links as more interesting and therefore shows it to more people. Clicking also tells Facebook you like content from a page and would like to see more on your Facebook news feed. So even if you aren’t interested in a specific link, just clicking it will let Facebook know you’re still interested in that page’s content.
Use the “save” option on things you want to come back to later
If you see something you’re interested in but don’t have time to read it or want to share it later, you can use new handy little “save” feature Facebook now has. Click the downward carrot in the top right of the post you want to save and select “Save Link,” then find all your saved posts in the “Saved” page under “Favorites” (top of the left sidebar, under your profile).
Spend some time reading the links you click
Whenever possible, actually read the links from the pages you like as the longer you spend on a clicked link, the more interesting Facebook deems it so you’re more likely to see more stuff from those pages (yes, they can track how long you spend on links you click from your Facebook news feed). At least skim the links, you might actually learn something new or interesting!
Share anything you like or you think your friends will like
Sharing is the ultimate Facebook thumbs up. You can share a post you like anywhere to give the page a boost and increase the possibility you’ll see more from the page on your Facebook news feed. Share posts where they are most appropriate: on your timeline, on a friends timeline (or tag friends you think are interested when sharing on your timeline) or in groups you’re part of that cover the specific topic.
Invite your friends to like the pages and groups you enjoy
The more friends you have that like a page and interact with the same page, the more likely you are to see that latest posts from that page. If you really like a page that you think some of your other friends would enjoy as well, go to the page and click “Invite Friends to Like this Page” and you can select which individual friends to invite.
